A new Kabbalah Study Group will start on March 1st 2010 for people who are interested in learning the Kabbalah through a Kabbalistic text: “The Knowing Heart” by Rabbi Moshe Chaim Luzzatto (Ramchal). The group will meet on Mondays from 5:00 – 7: pm for two sets of 12 sessions each.
Rabbi Areyeh Kaplan said about Ramchal: “The author begins with our most basic beliefs regarding the existence of G-d and His purpose in creation, and shows how most of the other important teachings of Judaism are a logical consequence of these concepts. The reader is led from thought to thought, through a dialogue between the soul and the intellect, until the entire structure of Judaism is presented as a logical whole.” As for the author; Rabbi Luzzatto, the RAMCHAL, is considered one of the foremost and most prolific Jewish thinkers of all time.
Learning this book would open new vistas of consciousness for you and could change your perception of your life, if you allow it. It provides a new grasp of the Universe, the “why” and the “what for” and above all conveys an optimistic view of our future in the “big” picture.
Participation in the class will require: a. Purchasing the book: “The Knowing Heart”. b. Since the material is very complexed and introduces new ways of looking at the world and ourselves, consistent participation is an absolute must.
Interested people should call Ziva Moyal, who will be leading the class, at Tel: 751-1442.
Acceptance to the group is dependent upon a prior phone interview with Ziva.
The fee for participation in the group is $60 for 12 sessions. The money will be a donation for the TJC. No one will be turned down because of financial difficulties.

Pesach Teaching with Maggid Andy Gold
Pesach continues to be a HolyDay celebrated by a very high percentage of Jews, regardless of one’s degree of observance and identification. The Biblical narrative has been well known to most of us since childhood. As well it should. Yet because of our desire to engage our children in the Seder, much of our own understanding of the narrative is a reflection of that context. Pesach contains teachings that are fundamental to Jewish cosmology, and are quite profound.
Come join us for teachings and practices that will help illumine aspects of Pesach that often remain obscured:
Where is Egypt?
Who is Pharoh and his hardened heart? The mid-wives, Moshe, Elijah, the 4 children, the mixed-multitude?
What is the significance of God’s ‘out-stretched arm’, the plagues?
What is chamaytz, and what are we to do with it?
What is the nature of our Freedom journey?
The TJC welcomes back Andy Gold, a favorite spiritual teacher to many Taosenos. Andy was ordained as a Rabbinic Pastor and Maggid in l988. He leads classes in contemplative Jewish spirituality throughout the US and has taught in Israel as well. Andy has also studied with Native American elders here in New Mexico, and is an initiate of a traditional Sufi lineage in Turkey. Andy is the director of the Rose Mountain retreat center outside of Las Vegas, NM.

“Women of the Bible” with Sara Noveson
Potluck brunch (no shellfish or pork, please). Suggested Donation: $5/member, $7/non-members.
Sara Noveson’s artwork and Judaic Art is a unique inspirational and luminous blend of art. Many of the pieces are bordered with Hebrew Psalms and blessings. Influenced by the stories from the Torah and Kabala, her Women of the Bible paintings and limited editions are mystical and powerfully charged with the spirituality of these great women. She is going to be showing her art work, her new book and speaking for about an hour about “Women of the Bible.” There will also be time for questions and answers.
Novenson is in great demand as a speaker and lecturer on the subject of her Women of the Bible series and Jewish folk art. Since 1992 she has lectured and taught in synagogues, churches, museums and organizations (including Haddasah) throughout the US and Europe.
About her presentation, Sara says: "A slide show of the paintings of my Women of the Bible series is presented as I tell many of the stories. Along with my own research of the Women, I studied with a woman who is a very esteemed Torah and Kabalah scholar. The stories are beautiful, powerful and some quite unknown. Each of the women are powerful archetypes and teachers for all contemporary women. Defying the boundaries of time the Women of the Bible reach out to guide and strengthen us in our “modern” lives."
"Part of my talk is dedicated to the stories of the actual painting of “The Women”. They are amazing stories in themselves. I am publishing a book of my “Women” and I read a short story from it during my talk. The limited edition box set of “Illuminated Visions Women of the Bible” will be at the presentation as well as the hand painted limited editions of “The Women” and other images."
"I also speak of my personal journey as a Jewish woman and artist. How and why I began the body of Jewish work, and how my spirituality has affected my art and my life."
The artwork and the limited edition book will be exhibited and available for purchase. You can visit Sara's website at www.novenson.com.
In addition to Sara’s presentation at the TJC in March, in June she will also be teaching a "Women of the Bible" workshop entitled “Pages in Our Book of Life, From Our Biblical Ancestors to Our Descendants” with Rabbi Mindy Portnoy from Temple Sinai in Washington DC. The workshop will be at Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu June 21st to 27th.
